ALLBRIGHT MEETS BOSS 2023 London Grid.001

At AllBright, we believe the power of entrepreneurship can be transformative – and when women have the courage to be our own boss, we can change the world.

That’s why we’ve partnered with ; together we’re on a mission to encourage and empower innovative, intelligent and ambitious women to forge their individual path towards becoming the boss they are meant to be, in whatever form that takes. Because in today’s modern and challenging market, BOSSes aren’t born. They’re made.

We recently hosted an AllBright Meets event in partnership with BOSS, bringing together more than 100 women to explore what it means to be your own BOSS. Facilitated by AllBright ambassador, Katie Briefel, the panel featured bosses including wellbeing coach, author and podcaster Adrienne Adhami, the CEO of Relentless Media, Katy Leeson, and the co-founder and CEO of LoveRaw, Rimi Thapar. Drawing inspiration from the BOSS Fall/Winter 23 campaign, the discussion explored the stories that helped shape our speakers and the lessons learned along each of their personal journeys.

Adrienne said: “When you walk into a room, your ideas, your attitude and your potential walks in with you. How you speak to yourself plays a huge part – if you doubt yourself, others will doubt you too. Your contribution is valuable.”

“Being your own BOSS is accepting that success for yourself and having the agency and autonomy to achieve that. Being your own boss will mean different things in different seasons of your life,” she added.

So now that you know all about what it means to be your own BOSS, how exactly can you embody it? Here’s three ways to get you started:

1. Find your purpose

The essence of the BOSS mindset is living a self-determined life and in doing so, leading and conducting business in a way that feels most authentic to you. And it starts from within. As Rimi Thapar, CEO and co-founder of LoveRaw put it: “Being your own boss is allowing yourself to create your own future and leading your own narrative.”

It’s all too easy to get caught up in the day-to-day stresses of work and focus only on the short term but in order to build something bigger, map a career over a lifetime and achieve your fullest potential, it’s important to have a clear vision of what your big picture purpose is and what it means to you.

Connect with your own inner boss by investigating and reflecting on your own strengths, development areas, personal leadership style and your driving purpose – be ambitious! “Discard the negative connotations about being ambitious, strive for what motivates you, redefine what ambition means to you and go for it!” – Adrienne Adhami

2. Stretch the bounds of your comfort zone

Being a businesswoman is anything but easy. Risks, challenges and pressure are all part of the process of being an entrepreneur or stepping up the business ladder and despite these obstacles, inspiring and visionary women like you are changing the game in their respective fields or blazing a trail where they didn’t exist before.

They say if you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you always got. The key to overcoming the unfavourable odds is to grow beyond what you’re used to and push yourself towards new or different ways of innovating and developing yourself and/or your business.

Join a networking event like AllBright Meets or reach out to someone you admire to explore a mentoring relationship. Use platforms like LinkedIn or AllBright Digital to ask your networks what you need support with, whether a pitch deck review, introduction to an investor or a recommendation for a virtual assistant – and you’ll be pleasantly surprised at the response you might get, simply by asking for help.

Don’t underestimate the power of your network. “When it comes to building your community and learning from mentors, start with what you can give, and you will get it back ten-fold.” – Adrienne Adhami
