Meet The Host Of Our AllBright Money Podcast Melanie Eusebe

Have you heard the news? The AllBright Money podcast has launched! We’re so excited to introduce our phenomenal host, British entrepreneur and author Melanie Eusebe. As the co-founder of the Black British Business Awards and award-winning business strategist, Melanie knows business – and she also knows money. She’s the founder of Money Moves and passionate about helping women to make real financial change (and as you’ll discover listening to the podcast, she loves talking about money). Here, we ask this incredible woman about why money matters, how to shift your mindset around finances and what the AllBright Money podcast has taught her.

When you coach your clients, you often ask the question: ‘Do you feel like you're not maximising your career success and wealth potential?’. What is the most common answer to this question?

The unfortunate reality is that so many women feel like they're not maximising their career success and not maximising their wealth potential. And so, that's why forums like the AllBright Money podcast and Money Moves are so important, because it opens up the space so that we can speak about these things. We can share our learnings, we can speak about our failures and our mistakes so that we can ensure that other people don't go through the same problems. But most importantly, we can change the narrative around money and not have it be a topic that is shrouded in secrecy and shame, but is quite frankly opened up so women can really talk about their money, talk about their careers, and really grow into their potential and reflect what we really contribute to the economy.

How did this inspire you to launch Money Moves?

I started the Money Moves group because I had made so many mistakes with my money, even though I was in a job where I was earning a lot, I didn't really know how to maximise my wealth. I didn't really think about the future as much as I should. I probably made mistakes that with a little bit of counsel, I would be in a very different financial position right now. I started talking about money with my friends and it opened up a whole new world for me. That's the kind of atmosphere that I wanted to create, that it was somewhere without shame, without secrecy, that we could speak about money and that I could learn things, and then I could also teach things as well. The relationships that have been born out of Money Moves are fantastic.

How would you describe your relationship with money?

I would say right now, my relationship with money is fairly positive. I'm fairly positive about my own income generation, my own income potential. Most importantly, I know what my time is worth and what my money is worth. So, knowing about money, learning about money, has directly reflected upon my own self-worth and the way that I show up in society, the way that I show up in the economy. I know that I can ask for the fees that I deserve because of the work that I have put in because of the career that I have. So, starting Money Moves has helped so much in regards to my own relationship with money, and that's what I hope for everyone who becomes involved.

What are the biggest messages around money you want to share with women?

I think the biggest message that I have for women around money is to not put their head in the sand. I want them to feel comfortable that they do not know all of the answers, but they deserve the answers, because they are contributing members of society. Whether you are a consumer, whether you are an income producer, we all are participating in the economy, and quite frankly, I want women to be empowered with their economic choices. I want them to be empowered with everything that they buy, that they know that they are buying with their values, and everything that they do, they know that they are getting paid their worth and their wealth. So ultimately, it's about economic empowerment for women. This is the biggest message that I have when I work with women through Money Moves.

Hosting The AllBright Money Podcast, what are the biggest lessons the women you’ve interviewed have taught you?

Quite frankly, it’s s just the authenticity. All of the women are so open and frank about how they started their journey. None of them were perfect in the beginning, they all made mistakes, and they were so authentic about it. And because they were authentic about it, because they were open about it, because they were very clear, "This is what I don't know, and this is what I do know," then they have not only opened up their own finances in an amazing way, but they are opening up financials for women across the planet. Also interviewing all of these women around the world and discovering that we all share the same struggles, which inherently is a very sad thing because that's 53% of the population that is feeling disenchanted or disenfranchised from their money. But on the other hand, it does speak to an amazing, bright, new future where women are owning the narrative around money like never before, and we are all speaking from the same hymn sheet. We are all pushing forward for the same goals.  www.melanieeusebe.com
