Examine your belief system and figure out what you are telling yourself daily that is holding you back. Being conscious of this makes a huge difference to our own growth.

Introducing Me

I am an award winning Interior Designer and Hotelier passionately using my voice and influence to talk about causes that are important to me ; Ethical Luxury, the Art of Emotion in Design, Travel and daily life and Female Empowerment. I am the founder of Kalukanda House and Velvet Orange, and a Speaker and Mentor.

Tell us a little about what you do / what is your passion?

I am a creative of 20 years  (with a former corporate life in finance). I build strong relationships with my Interiors clients and Hotel guests because I believe this is the way to create a bespoke service that is truly unique visually and experientially. Aesthetics is the obvious strand to my work but if it doesn’t strike an emotional chord then I feel the job is only half done. I love to create an impact with my spaces, they have to work functionally and make my clients feel uplifted and safe.

I built Kalukanda House from scratch and it is a destination for people to enjoy luxurious beauty, emotional freedom and creative “ aha!" moments of inspiration. Future spa retreats are being planned and led by experts for physical and mental restoration and business masterminding. I have forged links to charities and I joined the Board of trustees of a Sri Lankan charity to help with strategic policy and donate a portion of our booking fees. All our guests know we drive a circular economy.

In the design world I speak regularly on behalf of the British Institute of Interior Design at international and local events. This year I was shortlisted as Most Inspiring Business Woman for a national award - using my creative skills, business experience and tenacious attitude to grow my business and give a platform to important causes is really important to me.

Life can be really challenging and in 2020 my love of sport, wine and laughs with friends have helped keep me sane. I would love to connect with like minded people to collaborate or simply kick back over drinks and dinner.

What is the best advice you've ever received?
