Stand Up Comedians Sophie Duker, Twayna Mayne and Carl Donnelly join us for a Friday evening of jokes, drinks, and lots of laughter.

Sophie Duker is a bombastic black sheep whose favourite things include breaking hearts, taking names and telling jokes with the confidence of a cis straight middle-class white man. Her Edinburgh Fringe Show 2019, Venus, saw her nominated for the Best Newcomer award and gained critical acclaim and five star reviews. Since being shortlisted for the Funny Women award in 2015, she has appeared on 8 Out of 10 Cats, Mock the Week and Frankie Boyle’s New World Order. She can also be seen on Channel 4 in Riot Girls, BBC Three in Quickies and on Comedy Central.

Carl Donnelly started performing stand-up in 2005 and quickly established himself as one of the UK’s most exciting young comedians. His conversational, silly sense of humour has seen him win a host of awards (Chortle Best Club Comedian 2017; Chortle Best Newcomer 2007; Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year 2007; among others) and become a regular at all of the finest comedy clubs in the UK and across the world. The Guardian Newspaper have called Carl ‘an observational genius’.  Anyone who has the privilege of seeing him live is in for a real treat! Carl will be joined by guest stand up’s to be announced.

Twayna Mayne’s distinctive style paired with her deliciously honest material has taken her to the finals of numerous competitions including the prestigious New Act of the Year & Up the Creek’s One to Watch. In 2016, she became a Leicester Mercury Nominee and starred in the prestigious AAA show at the Edinburgh Fringe. Her highly anticipated debut show Black Girl achieved excellent critical acclaim at the Edinburgh Fringe 2017. Twayna has recently appeared on Radio 4 Extra Best of the Edinburgh Fringe, BBC Scotland at the Fringe and BBC Radio 4’s Loose Ends. She has also had her own BBC Radio 4 Series ‘Black Woman’ broadcasting during November and is currently writing several longform theatre projects.
