What is the circular economy and why is it essential to our future? Due to decades of over-borrowing from our planet’s natural assets, an environmental collapse is imminent. Everything from clothes to packaging follows a life take-make-waste extractive industrial model. By adopting a circular economy, we can reduce the amount of waste we produce. Can this be achieved? Who is responsible? What can be done?
Join QE 2 British Design award winning fashion designer Bethany Williams, who has pioneered an innovative circular approach to solving issues in our communities. Bethany believes that social and environmental issues go hand in hand and through exploring the connection between these issues we may find innovative design solutions to sustainability.
Bethany will be joined by Clare Brass, Director of Department 22, a design and innovation consultancy with a focus on food, finding solutions for a better 22nd century. She was head of sustainability at the Design Council and set up and ran SustainRCA at the Royal College of Art where she was a mentor for the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. Clare and coaches teaches circular economy and user centred design to businesses and at various business schools.
