Ronnie Scott’s & the Women in Jazz team are back after an incredible run last year with an IWD Special. Critically-acclaimed MOBO nominated saxophonist, and Evening Standard’s ‘Golden Girl of Jazz’, Camilla George, has handpicked London’s finest female musicians for a one-off performance over dinner.
Camilla George is a London based saxophone player, improviser, composer and teacher. Camilla’s debut album, ‘ISANG’, with special guest Zara McFarlane on vocals, was released on Ubuntu Music in late 2016, to exceptional critical acclaim. She has studied with many jazz greats such as sax giant, Jean Toussaint (of Art Blakey fame), Tony Kofi, Christian Brewer, Julian Siegal and Martin Speake.
Women in Jazz is a London-based organisation, that champions and nurtures the talents of female musicians across the UK Jazz scene. Ronnie Scott’s is one of the oldest and most famous jazz clubs on the planet, celebrating its 60th anniversary this year. It is the place to catch visionary trailblazers and young rising stars, and over the past 60 years has played host to most of the legends and popular names of the jazz and jazz fusion scene.
