How do you deal with challenges at work?

When you run your own business, challenges are always there. If you want to earn a big salary, then you have to expect to have situations that are uncomfortable to manage. I’ve got much more disciplined, avoiding knee-jerk reactions and taking a step back to assess. I also say never send an email when you are het-up. Sleep on it and think about the best response.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
The best advice came from my grandfather that hard work will always prevail. I’ve also been a trier. If you keep working hard and trying your best, I believe good things will come your way.

Do you have a motto or mantra that helps you at work?
Worrying never solves anything. When there are so many projects on and you spend time worrying over whether it will happen or not or whether someone agrees you, I just have to try and take a deep breath and remind myself that things will happen when they are supposed to.

Is there anything you can’t stop listening to at the minute? Songs, albums, podcasts etc.
Podcasts are great for the train commute. I lose myself listening to them. I particularly enjoy The Lifestyle Newshound with Emma Forbes and Gemma Shepherd.

I also play Madeleine Peyroux albums when I write. My husband hates it and leaves the kitchen. Funnily enough, the first time I came to AllBright for a meeting, Madeleine Peyroux was playing in the background. I thought, “Allbright have really good taste in music!”
