My name is Michelle Adams and I am the founder of Chatty Cats Care a professional pet-sitting company in London. I have always adored cats and they have been apart of my life for as long as I can remember, so I wanted to make being a 'Cat Lady' cool and bring it into the 21st century.

Introduce yourself  My name is Michelle Adams and I am the founder of Chatty Cats Care a professional pet-sitting company in London. I have always adored cats and they have been apart of my life for as long as I can remember, so I wanted to make being a 'Cat Lady' cool and bring it into the 21st century.

I have a small team of 17 people from all different backgrounds such as; Small Business Owners, Teachers, Personal Trainers, Life Coaches, Students, Photographers, and more who all have a passion for cats. So many of my sitters enjoy the therapeutic aspect of the cat-sitting job and it helps them to relax after a busy day at the office.

I also started a podcast during the first lockdown as a method for staying connected and engaged with my clients and followers. The Catmaste Chronicles podcast was born and it has developed and grown so well organically, we are now on over 5,000 downloads, we have been featured in Take A Break Pets publication and we came 8th for a Listeners Choice Award for Podcasting for Business 2021. The podcast theme is well-being and pets, so for the majority of the episode I chat to guests about their lives, businesses, ventures and for the last 10 minutes we end with a lighthearted conversation about their pets. I am very excited about where the podcast is heading and we have so many exciting guests lined up to appear on the show in the following months ahead.

A fact about you I'm a creative dyslexic with a passion for cats, traveling, watching theatre shows, and building my business. I love traveling to destinations where I can fully immerse myself in the culture and tradition. I have traveled to places such as a small rural village in Turkey, where I learned ancient and traditional Turkish art, dance, cooking, and language. I traveled around Delhi and Mumbai in India and have visited the Taj Mahal, which was phenomenal. I have also dived in shark-invested waters in Egypt and uncovered old photos and writing from an abandoned orphanage on an archeological expedition in Greece.

What do you do? What is your passion? So many people find building their businesses quite stressful or overwhelming, but if you make your business your passion it never feels that way. I enjoy building my business and I love that it involves helping people. I have received some very heartwarming emails from clients who have told me that they haven't been away on holiday in years because they have nobody they trust enough to look after their beloved pet and home while they are away. My service has allowed people to live their lives and before lockdown happened a lot of our regular clients were booking with us once a month sometimes.

What's the best advice you've ever received? I started university with an idea of what I thought it would be like, but when I actually started the course it was completely different from what I imagined it would be. I didn't really enjoy the course and I felt like university possibly wasn't for me I experienced imposter syndrome (before it became a thing). I started working for a bank and then I realised this also wasn't what I wanted to do. I wanted to be my own boss for quite a long time and I had always been captivated by entrepreneurialism even though my family members didn't share the same passion. So I signed up for a business program with The Princes Trust and I was assigned a mentor; he was an ex-army guy, quite strict, and definitely whipped my butt into gear, he also helped me understand the realities of starting a business. But he encouraged me to go back to university. So I worked hard, volunteering and studying to grasp a better understanding of my topic, and today I have two degrees, I never even thought I would achieve one let alone two. So I am very thankful and appreciated this advice as it has helped shaped me into the person that I am today and I have a better understanding of the world.
